Sloan and Nalia Hegge opened On the Rocks Jewelers November 23,
2007. They both worked corporate jobs in the jewelry industry and wanted
to make a “go of it” on their own. And that is exactly what they did.
These fearless young women built the store themselves, from laying the
floors to texturing and building walls. They also restored an antique
Brunswick Backbar and turned it in to a custom jewelry case, hence the
name On the Rocks Jewelers. Nalia and Desirea admit that opening
their business has been challenging and everyday is a learning
experience, but worth every minute of their time.
“Owning our own jewelry store and being young women is such an awesome adventure in our lives that we couldn’t have asked for anything else,” says Nalia. “We love our job so much that handpicking every piece of jewelry is something we love doing, and hardly consider work!”
Nalia and Desirea wanted to do what all small business owners want to do - focus on their business. They didn’t want to be bothered with the hassles that surround monthly accounting work. So when they met their local Padgett Owner, Cindy Mason, they knew it was a great fit. Nalia and Desirea realized that opening a new business meant that money would be coming from many different places and they appreciated Cindy’s patience.
“She answered and explained everything we need to know,” said Nalia. “She is very good at what she does and really treats her customers with respect and gives great customer service; she goes above and beyond to help us”
